Why Yes, You Can Major in Beer at these Schools

UC Brewing in Thrillist

FST's Anheuser-Busch Endowed Professor of Malting and Brewing Sciences, Glen Fox, is quoted in this Jan. 5th, 2023 article by Erik Ofgang in Thrillist, "Why Yes, You Can Major in Beer at These Schools".  The article describes the scope of brewing programs in the U.S., advantages of degree and certificate programs in brewing, and advice for choosing a program. Katherine Pallarino, a UC Davis junior in food science, is also quoted in the article, referring to the advantages of hands-on learning in the Anheuser Busch InBev Pilot Brewery and how it helped her feel right at home in a part-time job at Sudwerk Brewing Company:

“I have been able to go into this job knowing details about brewing science like yeast metabolism, but also about transferring large amounts of liquid because there are courses that we have to take in the food science program that are dedicated to learning about flow and pressure differentials and pipe fittings and friction.” - Katherine Pallarino

Students and faculty at Oregon State University and Garrett Oliver, brewmaster at Brooklyn Brewery, are mentioned prominently in the article as well.
